Egerton Arms' Sister Pubs & Restaurants
We Three Loggerheads
For around 300 years The Loggerheads Inn, as the pub was originally known, has stood beside the A494, Mold to Ruthin road, about 2 miles outside of Mold directly opposite the Loggerheads Country Park.
The current name goes back to a mid 1700’s boundary dispute and the inn sign until 1928 was a painting, purported to be by Richard Wilson RA, depicting this event, which he produced whilst staying at Colomendy Hall.
The spacious and comfortable dining room at the rear of the pub was built in 1930 to compete with the tearooms erected across the road by the Crosville Motor Co.
The Tea House was built to serve not just sightseers with their own transport but the crowds of travellers brought here by Crosville coach trips. Loggerheads remains a traditional excursion for the folk from Liverpool to this day.
The Plough Inn
If you are seeking a friendly atmosphere on the moors just a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of city life, try the tempting, extensive menu of hot and cold home-cooked food served all day every day at The Plough Inn, Llandegla. The pub is in a great location and has an extensive beer garden with childrens' play area and large patrons' car park.
Being situated on the edge of Llandegla Forest, one of the largest privately-owned recreation facilities in North Wales, the pub is a popular meeting point for mountain bikers, fell runners, cyclists, walkers, ramblers and wildlife groups.
The Plough is one of only two pubs left today of the fourteen drovers' inns which once stood within the parish boundary of Llandegla yn Ial. Llan means an area dedicated to, or consecrated by the saint in question and the church of St.Tecla‘s stands in the village — Ial means an area of cleared and cultivated land.
"The Plough was my first local in 1976, and I have the fondest of memories of a couple of pints and scampy and chips .... a REAL country pub" ....... Carl, Mandurah, Western Australia
